August 19th - August 21st: Work project for Adam's County Habitat For Humanity |
|
One the above
mentioned dates driven took a 3 day trip up to Adam's county
Wisconsin. We left around 5 pm and drove the three hours up on
Friday night. We had previously helped raise money at an
event called "Shanty Town", to raise money for the Adam's
county Habitat for Humanity. All the money we raised went to
building two houses for people in need. So we drove up on Friday to
prepare for a long day of work on the houses on Sunday.
The First night started out with unloading picking or rooms, and a series of battles between the genders over certain things. The girls won out however, capturing the good room and destroying our cookies. After that we played a sweet game of hide and seek in the church. About 12:30 Mrs. G made us go to bed. In the morning we all got up early and went to work. We quickly got the house and got started. No time was wasted. Mr. "stewlart" and Doug worked on the roof, Luke, cliff, Onya, and Tyler did J-Channel and windows, and Mr. and Mrs. G put in the front doors. While they did that John, Katie, Mike, Anna, Jenna, and Larasha cleaned up the houses and got them ready for future work. After the cleanup john got a crew together and did drywall backing on both the houses. We worked really well together. Mrs. Stewart nailed the boards in, Jenna and Larasha Measured for them, John cut the boards, and Katie gathered wood and assisted in cutting the wood. While this was going on Most of the other people moved from J-Channel and windows to siding and trim. |

After the day was done we were sweaty, nasty, smelly, dirty, tired, and ready for more. We went swimming at a local pool, played some Frisbee and used their showers. After we got clean and had some more fun we went out to the dells and got some food. Following the food we all got some free time in the dells. While some took a walk down by the river, others went to play the arcade game. John went strait to the fudge shop and he and Dean split some good fudge. While on the way to the fudge shop, Tyler saw a cool roman dagger in the window of a store and had to buy it. After the dells it was back to the church for some more Hide and seek. Mr. "Stewlart" turned out to be the best at hiding. Once we found him we all went to sleep and woke the next day for the church service. Following that we went out to eat and went home. It was a great trip. We were able to server and have loads of fun at the same time. Join us next time!!! |
